"I Do know however that I'm going to CHANGE THE MOTHERFUCKING WORLD. One educated, logical, caring mind a time."

you argue that religion is the cause of war and discrimination, and if it were gone, we'd all be better for it. i agree that it has played a huge role, but the actual basis of religion is the same, no matter what you believe--treat others as you want to be treated and judge no one. it's people that fuck it up, and it's people that make the world a better place through that belief. if someone needs to believe in a higher power to get through the day, who are you to judge them? i am not personally religious, but i was taught to coexist in a peaceful manner with people whose beliefs are different from my own. your telling someone that their religious art sucks would be exactly the same as someone telling you that your art sucks simply because they had a different perspective than you.

THIS is what wars are born of--INTOLERANCE and an unwillingness to accept others. yes, religion does have a history of perpetuating intolerance, but so does what you did. so you didn't like a painting of hands holding a rosary--so what? if i don't like someone's painting of cabbage because i personally hate cabbage, that doesn't make it any less "good" in terms of art, it just means that i don't like it. if you've ever had a proper art class with critiques, you would know that liking something is completely different from whether or not it is a good piece--the two should not be used interchangeably.

if you want to make the world a better place, stop perpetuating hate. you stand for lgbt rights, so you probably know (or should if you don't) about the matthew shepard foundation. their campaign is "erase hate." this means erasing hate from ALL parties involved, not simply hate from anti-queer people. you have no right to call someone else out on hating if you do the exact same thing. what you did was the opposite of caring, educated and logical, and if you showed even one of the qualities that you hope to spread throughout the world, you would understand that.

you can be pissed off at me. that's your right, just like i have the right to be pissed off by your intolerance. but honestly, all i want is for you to stop. and reconsider what you're doing. okay, you self-identify as a militant atheist. that i don't have a problem with, nor the fact that you're queer. i have a problem with you hurting other people. you need to find a way to change the world for the better without causing undue pain to those who do not deserve it.
